Is always a spectator event. Young children in particular can get very excited and pose a danger to the glider and themselves. One or two people are needed for crowd control. This is the Kerio View take-off / landing ground near Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet.

These competitors are being flagged off at 1 minute intervals for a serious downhill race. They will all probably make it down to the finish ---- but not all will be in one piece. These events rely on the sponsorship of well-wishers.

gives a chance for pilots to indulge in a bit of competition. It also gives the opportunity for some close-up photography in the sky.

Now the rider is fully committed and travelling at 20 – 30 km per hour. A moment of hesitation can cost him the lead – or a serious injury.
